Ripper Street filming - Trinity College Dublin (TCD)
Morning - Headed to Trinity around 11 am. Info that I was given said filming was at the School of Medicine block. Walked around the grounds searching for this building and any other signs of filming.
Their Medicine building is actually a modern building - info given was a dud. After an hour, gave up and decided to exit using their back entrance beside the rugby field.
Saw a lot of odd looking vehicles that didn’t belong to a university whilst walking to the exit - when boom I realised they were trailers. These trailers don’t have the actors’ names to mark them, but their character’s name instead.
Evening - Came back around 6pm as morning walk was just too early for filming I guess. Went straight up to the trailers - my boyfriend and I pretending we belong there as Trinitarians using their side entrance as the main one was closed to visitors.
Managed to snap my one and only picture above - Matthew MacFadyen’s trailer! Whilst walking, this actor stepped out of his trailer marked “22. Surgeon”. Trailed the actor because this would finally lead us to where filming was actually taking place!
‘twas fun being all stalker-like, until we reached the building and there was this surly looking security. He was staring at us all suspiciously, so I chickened and left. But the building where they’re filming at is one of the period buildings behind the rugby park - can’t remember its name. There was a sign asking for corporation during filming.
Thus ends the account of my first day chasing filming locations. Didn’t see any of the main actors. :( Matthew..
Anyway, since filming will wrap up in Dublin August 31st, I’ll know what I’ll be doing this summer.
